Frequently asked questions

Home / Frequently asked questions

Can I send a book by post?

Yes. Visit the bindery or send us a book to look at. We assess it, advise and give you a clear price before any work.

What does binding cost?

It depends on the book, the materials and the work involved. Once we have looked at it we will give you a clear price.

Can you repair a family bible?

Often, yes. Loose pages, split spines and worn covers can usually be put right. Show us the book and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

Can you make a box for a book?

Yes. We make slipcases, boxes and portfolios to fit and protect a book or a set of papers.

Do you do gold tooling?

Yes. We tool titles and lettering in gold on the spine and cover, as the finishing touch on a fine binding.

Do you work for collectors and libraries?

Yes. We bind, repair and restore for collectors, families and libraries, and advise on what a book needs.

Do you bind and rebind books?

Yes. We bind and rebind by hand in cloth or leather, sewn to open well and to last. Tell us about the book and we will advise and prepare a quote.
